Ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized Potatoes
  • 500 ml Vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons Chaat masala
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 4 tablespoons Tamarind chutney
  • 4 tablespoons Green chutney
  • 1 cup Plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves
  • 0.5 cup Pomegranate seeds
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice

Directions

Step 1

Peel the potatoes and cut them into small cubes, about 1 inch in size.

Step 2

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.

Step 3

Once the oil is hot, carefully add the potato cubes in batches and fry them until they are golden brown and crisp. This should take about 7-10 minutes per batch.

Step 4

Remove the fried potatoes with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Step 5

In a large mixing bowl, combine the fried potatoes, chaat masala, cumin powder, red chili powder, and salt. Toss everything together so the potatoes are evenly coated with the spices.

Step 6

Peel and finely chop the onion. Add the chopped onion to the spiced potatoes.

Step 7

Add tamarind chutney, green chutney, and lemon juice to the bowl, and mix well.

Step 8

Serve the aloo chaat in individual bowls or plates.

Step 9

Garnish each serving with a dollop of plain yogurt, a sprinkle of fresh coriander leaves, and pomegranate seeds for added flavor and a pop of color.

Step 10

Enjoy this nut-free aloo chaat as a delicious snack or appetizer!
