Ingredients

  • 6 large Egg yolks
  • 0.75 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 cups Whole milk
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup Bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 3 large Egg whites
  • 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar
  • 1 pinch Cinnamon (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks until they become pale and slightly fluffy.

Step 2

Gradually add the granulated sugar to the yolks, whisking until fully combined and smooth.

Step 3

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the whole milk, heavy cream, and ground nutmeg. Cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture just reaches a simmer. Do not allow it to boil.

Step 4

Slowly temper the hot milk mixture into the egg yolks and sugar by adding a small amount at a time while whisking constantly to prevent curdling.

Step 5

Pour the tempered mixture back into the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until the mixture thickens enough to coat the back of the spoon. This should take about 3-5 minutes.

Step 6

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the bourbon and vanilla extract. Transfer the mixture to a large bowl and allow it to cool to room temperature, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

Step 7

In a separate medium bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.

Step 8

Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the chilled eggnog mixture until fully incorporated and creamy.

Step 9

Serve the Nashville Eggnog in festive glasses or mugs, dusted with a pinch of cinnamon on top. Enjoy!
