Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1.5 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Ketchup (for meat mixture)
  • 0.5 cup Ketchup (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, diced onion, garlic, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and 2 tablespoons of ketchup. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Step 3

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf about 9 inches long and 4 inches wide. Place the loaf on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 4

In a small bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of ketchup, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard to make the glaze.

Step 5

Spread half of the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

Step 6

Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.

Step 7

After 45 minutes, remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread the remaining glaze on top. Return it to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 8

Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Step 9

Slice the meatloaf and serve with your favorite side dishes such as mashed potatoes or a green salad.
