Ingredients

  • 500 grams Button mushrooms (or cremini mushrooms)
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Clean the mushrooms by gently wiping them with a damp paper towel to remove any dirt. Slice larger mushrooms in half, leaving smaller ones whole.

Step 2

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add olive oil and 2 tablespoons of the butter. Allow the butter to melt completely.

Step 3

Add the mushrooms to the skillet in a single layer. Let them cook undisturbed for 4–5 minutes to get a nice golden brown color on one side.

Step 4

Stir the mushrooms and cook for another 4–5 minutes, until they are evenly browned and tender.

Step 5

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent burning.

Step 6

Reduce the heat to low and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Stir well until the butter is fully melted and coats the mushrooms.

Step 7

Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper, stirring to combine. Remove the skillet from the heat.

Step 8

Sprinkle the chopped parsley over the mushrooms and, if desired, add a splash of lemon juice for a hint of brightness.

Step 9

Serve the garlic butter mushrooms immediately as a side dish, appetizer, or topping for steak, pasta, or rice.
