Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Puff pastry sheets
  • 300 grams Button mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves
  • 2 small Shallots
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh thyme
  • 100 grams Cream cheese
  • 50 grams Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 Egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon Water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Thaw the puff pastry sheets according to the package instructions and set them aside.

Step 3

Finely chop the mushrooms, garlic, and shallots.

Step 4

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shallots and garlic and sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.

Step 5

Add the chopped mushrooms and fresh thyme to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms release their moisture and it evaporates, about 7-10 minutes.

Step 6

Stir in the cream cheese and Parmesan cheese until fully incorporated. Season with salt and black pepper. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.

Step 7

Unroll the puff pastry sheets on a floured surface. Cut each sheet into 4 equal squares, creating 8 pieces in total.

Step 8

Place a spoonful of the mushroom mixture in the center of each square. Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling to create a neat packet. Pinch the edges to seal.

Step 9

In a small bowl, whisk the egg yolk with water to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of the pastry packets with the egg wash for a golden finish.

Step 10

Transfer the puff pastry packets to the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed.

Step 11

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
