Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds Ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 cup White mushrooms
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • 4 pieces Burger buns
  • 4 pieces Lettuce leaves
  • 1 piece Tomato (sliced)
  • 4 slices Pickles (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Ketchup (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Mustard (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil and butter. Once melted, add the mushrooms (finely chopped) and sauté for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and softened. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, mix the sautéed mushrooms with the shredded cheddar cheese to form your filling. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until the seasoning is evenly distributed, being careful not to overmix.

Step 4

Divide the ground beef mixture into 8 equal portions. Flatten each portion into a thin patty about 4 inches in diameter.

Step 5

Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the mushroom and cheese filling into the center of 4 patties. Place the remaining 4 patties on top of the filled ones and carefully seal the edges by pinching them together. Make sure there are no gaps to prevent the filling from leaking out during cooking.

Step 6

Preheat a grill, grill pan, or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the stuffed patties for 4-5 minutes per side, flipping carefully, until they reach your desired level of doneness (internal temperature of 160°F for medium).

Step 7

Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a skillet, if desired.

Step 8

Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the cooked stuffed patty, a slice of tomato, and pickles if using. Spread ketchup or mustard on the top half of the bun if desired, then place it on top.

Step 9

Serve immediately and enjoy your Mushroom Stuffed Cheeseburgers!
