Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 pieces large eggs
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup optional chopped walnuts

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Add the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Step 4

In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.

Step 5

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 6

Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped walnuts (if using) using a spatula or wooden spoon.

Step 7

Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop scoops of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 8

Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers appear slightly underbaked.

Step 9

Remove the baking sheets from the oven and let the cookies cool on the sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 10

Serve and enjoy your homemade Mrs. Fields-style cookies!
