Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons Chinese green tea (gunpowder tea)
  • 1 large handful Fresh mint leaves
  • 3 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 4 cups Water

Directions

Step 1

Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan or kettle.

Step 2

Rinse the teapot with a small amount of boiling water to warm it up.

Step 3

Add the green tea to the teapot. Pour about 1/2 cup of boiling water over the tea leaves, swirl gently, and discard this water to clean the leaves of impurities.

Step 4

Add the fresh mint leaves and sugar directly to the teapot over the rinsed tea leaves.

Step 5

Pour the remaining boiling water into the teapot and allow the tea to steep for 5 minutes.

Step 6

Stir gently to dissolve the sugar, or for a more traditional method, pour the tea into a glass and back into the teapot several times to mix well and aerate.

Step 7

Taste and adjust sugar as needed.

Step 8

Serve the tea hot in small glasses, optionally garnished with additional mint leaves.
