Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 tablespoon Montreal steak seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese slices (optional)
  • 4 pieces burger buns
  • 4 pieces lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices sliced tomatoes
  • 4 slices sliced red onion
  • 0.25 cup mayonnaise (optional)
  • 0.25 cup ketchup (optional)
  • 0.25 cup mustard (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Montreal steak seasoning, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Step 3

Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4-inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to keep them flat while cooking.

Step 4

Brush the patties lightly with olive oil to prevent sticking.

Step 5

Place the patties on the hot grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, 4-5 minutes per side for medium, or longer for well-done. If adding cheese, place a slice on each patty in the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.

Step 6

While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers: Spread mayonnaise, ketchup, or mustard onto the bottom half of each toasted bun if desired. Layer with lettuce, a cooked patty, a slice of tomato, a slice of red onion, and the top half of the bun.

Step 8

Serve immediately and enjoy your Montreal Burger with your favorite side dishes!
