Ingredients

  • 1 large French baguette (or hoagie roll)
  • 4 ounces Sliced deli turkey
  • 4 ounces Sliced deli ham
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Spicy mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Raspberry or strawberry preserves
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Ground black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Cut the baguette or hoagie roll in half lengthwise, being careful not to slice all the way through. Open it like a book and set aside.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise and spicy mustard together. Spread the mixture evenly on the inside of the baguette.

Step 4

Layer the deli turkey and ham slices on one side of the bread, folding each slice so it fits neatly. Top with the slices of Swiss cheese.

Step 5

Gently close the sandwich and set it aside.

Step 6

In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper to create a custard mixture.

Step 7

Carefully dip the entire sandwich into the custard mixture, ensuring both sides are fully coated. Allow any excess custard to drip off.

Step 8

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until the bread is golden brown and slightly crisp.

Step 9

Transfer the sandwich to the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted.

Step 10

Remove the sandwich from the oven and let it rest for 1-2 minutes. Dust the top with powdered sugar for a hint of sweetness.

Step 11

Cut the sandwich in half and serve warm with a side of raspberry or strawberry preserves for dipping.
