Directions

Step 1

Slice the artisan bread loaf horizontally into three even layers using a long serrated knife, creating a top, middle, and bottom section.

Step 2

Gently spread the softened butter on the top-facing sides of the middle and bottom layers, toasting them in a dry skillet over medium heat until golden brown. Set aside to cool slightly.
