Ingredients

  • 4 lbs Pork baby back ribs
  • 0.25 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Paprika
  • 1.5 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1.5 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Dried oregano
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • 0.5 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 0.25 cup Honey
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp Liquid smoke (optional for extra smoky flavor)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).

Step 2

Remove the silver membrane from the back of the ribs for tender results. You can do this by gently lifting one end with a knife and pulling it off with a paper towel.

Step 3

In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and optional cayenne pepper to make the spice rub.

Step 4

Rub the spice mixture generously all over the ribs, ensuring an even coating.

Step 5

Wrap the seasoned ribs tightly in aluminum foil, creating a sealed packet. Place the packets on a large baking sheet.

Step 6

Bake the ribs in the preheated oven for 3 hours, or until they are tender and the meat begins to pull away from the bones.

Step 7

While the ribs are baking, make the barbecue sauce. In a medium saucepan, combine the apple cider vinegar, ketchup, honey, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and optional liquid smoke. Whisk well and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set aside to cool.

Step 8

After 3 hours of baking, remove the ribs from the oven and carefully unwrap them. Discard the excess liquid from the foil.

Step 9

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Alternatively, if you don't have a grill, you can use your oven's broiler.

Step 10

Brush the ribs generously with the prepared barbecue sauce on both sides.

Step 11

Grill the ribs for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until they are caramelized and slightly charred, basting with more barbecue sauce as they cook. If broiling, place them on a broiler pan and broil for 3-5 minutes per side.

Step 12

Remove the ribs from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes before cutting into individual portions.

Step 13

Serve warm with extra barbecue sauce on the side, and enjoy Mom's Best Barbecued Ribs!
