Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Ground ginger
  • 1.5 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoons Ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoons Ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 cups Unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.75 cups Brown sugar, packed
  • 0.5 cups Honey
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 1 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Whole milk

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground cloves, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, use a hand or stand mixer to cream the softened butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

Step 4

Add the honey, eggs, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, beating until well incorporated.

Step 5

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.

Step 6

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. Use a spatula to smooth the top evenly.

Step 7

Bake for 28–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Step 8

Remove the gingerbread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 9

Once cooled, slice into squares and serve as is, or dust with powdered sugar or top with whipped cream for an extra treat!
