Molasses Cones

Irresistibly spiced and delightfully shaped, Molasses Cones are the perfect blend of nostalgia and artistry in cookie form. These soft, chewy treats are infused with the warming flavors of cinnamon and ginger, balanced by the rich depth of molasses. Shaped by hand into unique cone-like triangles, they make for an eye-catching addition to holiday dessert platters or cozy teatime spreads. The combination of brown sugar and butter creates a sublime, caramelized texture, while a touch of milk ensures the dough is perfectly tender. Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and brown sugar using an electric mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 4

Beat the molasses and egg into the butter mixture, mixing until well incorporated. Scrape down the sides of the bowl if needed.

Step 5

Add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients in three additions, alternating with the milk. Mix just until the dough comes together.

Step 6

Using your hands, roll about 1.5 tablespoons of dough (about the size of a walnut) into a cone shape or a narrow triangle.

Step 7

Place each cone onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are slightly firm but the center is still soft.

Step 9

Remove the baking sheets from the oven and let the cookies cool for 2-3 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 10

Serve the molasses cones as they are or dust with powdered sugar for extra flair. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
