Ingredients

  • 4 pieces salmon fillets
  • 3 tablespoons white miso paste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 stalks green onions
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, whisk together the white miso paste, soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, rice vinegar, and sesame oil until well combined.

Step 2

Rinse the salmon fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

Step 3

Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag, and pour the miso marinade over them. Ensure each fillet is fully coated, then cover the dish with plastic wrap or seal the bag, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, and up to 2 hours.

Step 4

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly grease it.

Step 5

Place the marinated salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet, skin-side down if your salmon has skin.

Step 6

Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and the glaze has caramelized.

Step 7

While the salmon is baking, thinly slice the green onions and toast the sesame seeds in a dry pan over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.

Step 8

Remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.

Step 9

Serve the miso salmon fillets hot alongside steamed rice or your choice of vegetables for a complete meal.
