Ingredients

  • 500 grams Ground pork (or chicken)
  • 60 grams Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce (low-sodium)
  • 1 tablespoon Hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger (grated)
  • 1 clove Garlic (minced)
  • 2 stalks Scallions (thinly sliced, green parts only)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 2 tablespoons Chili sauce (optional for dipping)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, panko breadcrumbs, egg, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.

Step 2

Mix the ingredients thoroughly with your hands or a spoon until everything is uniformly combined.

Step 3

Gently fold in the sliced scallion greens. Be careful not to overmix the meat mixture, as it can make the meatballs tough.

Step 4

Using lightly oiled hands, shape the meat mixture into small balls, approximately 2.5 cm (1 inch) in diameter. You should have about 20–24 mini meatballs.

Step 5

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 6

Working in batches to avoid overcrowding, place the meatballs in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until evenly browned and cooked through. The meatballs should reach an internal temperature of 75°C (165°F).

Step 7

Remove the cooked meatballs from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

Step 8

Serve the mini meatballs warm with chili sauce or your favorite dipping sauce on the side. Garnish with additional scallions if desired.
