Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 4 pieces burger buns
  • 4 pieces cheddar cheese slices
  • 1 cup guacamole
  • 0.5 cup salsa
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 0.25 cup jalapeño slices

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, taco seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Step 2

Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a burger patty about 3/4 inch thick.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil.

Step 4

Place the burger patties in the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes on one side until nicely browned.

Step 5

Flip the patties and cook for another 4-5 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty to melt.

Step 6

While the patties cook, toast the burger buns slightly in a separate pan or on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden.

Step 7

Assemble the taco burgers by spreading a layer of guacamole on the bottom half of each burger bun.

Step 8

Place a cooked beef patty on top, followed by a spoonful of salsa, a sprinkle of shredded lettuce, and a dollop of sour cream.

Step 9

Add a few jalapeño slices for heat and finish by placing the top bun over the assembled ingredients.

Step 10

Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes, such as tortilla chips and extra salsa or guacamole.
