Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Puff pastry sheets
  • 227 grams Cream cheese, softened
  • 120 grams Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 120 milliliters Salsa
  • 30 grams Chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons Flour for dusting

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2

Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the puff pastry sheets if they are not already pre-rolled.

Step 3

In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, salsa, chopped cilantro, ground cumin, and paprika. Mix until evenly incorporated.

Step 4

Spread half of the cheese mixture evenly over the first puff pastry sheet, leaving a 2 cm border around the edges.

Step 5

Gently roll the puff pastry sheet into a tight log, starting from one of the longer edges. Repeat the process with the second sheet of puff pastry and the remaining cheese mixture.

Step 6

Place the logs seam-side down and chill them in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to firm up.

Step 7

Once chilled, use a sharp knife to slice the logs into 1 cm thick rounds and arrange them on the prepared baking sheets, leaving a little space between each swirl.

Step 8

Brush the tops of the swirls with the beaten egg to give them a golden, glossy finish.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the swirls are puffed up and golden brown.

Step 10

Allow the swirls to cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
