Ingredients

  • 1 9-inch crust Pre-made pie crust
  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 0.5 cup Yellow onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Taco seasoning
  • 1 cup Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • 4 ounces Chopped green chilies (canned, drained)
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 4 pieces Large eggs
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Hot sauce (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
  • 0.5 cup Sour cream (optional, for serving)
  • 0.5 cup Salsa (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the pre-made pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish, prick the bottom with a fork, and set it aside.

Step 2

In a medium skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into small crumbles with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 3

Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion softens, about 2-3 minutes. Stir in the taco seasoning and mix well. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Step 4

In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, salt, black pepper, and optional hot sauce until fully combined.

Step 5

Sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese and half of the Monterey Jack cheese evenly over the bottom of the pie crust. Layer the cooked beef mixture evenly on top, followed by the green chilies.

Step 6

Pour the egg mixture over the beef and ensure it spreads evenly. Top with the remaining cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses.

Step 7

Place the quiche on the middle rack of the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.

Step 8

Remove the quiche from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Step 9

Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with optional sour cream and salsa on the side.
