Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Sub rolls or ciabatta bread
  • 16 pieces Cooked meatballs
  • 1 cup Marinara sauce
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 8 pieces Fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat a panini press or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat.

Step 2

Slice the sub rolls or ciabatta bread lengthwise and spread the inside lightly with marinara sauce.

Step 3

Place 4 cooked meatballs on the bottom half of each roll. Slightly press the meatballs down to flatten them for even grilling.

Step 4

Sprinkle the meatballs with mozzarella cheese and a light layer of grated Parmesan cheese.

Step 5

Add a fresh basil leaf or two on top of the cheese for added flavor.

Step 6

Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper.

Step 7

Close the sandwiches with the top halves of the rolls. Spread a light layer of butter on the outside of each sandwich to promote crispiness during grilling.

Step 8

Drizzle a little olive oil onto the panini press or grill pan to prevent sticking.

Step 9

Place the sandwiches onto the heated press or pan. Close the lid or press down with a heavy pan, and cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese is fully melted.

Step 10

Carefully remove the panini from the press or pan and let them cool for 1-2 minutes.

Step 11

Slice each panini in half, serve immediately, and enjoy!
