Ingredients

  • 190 grams all-purpose flour
  • 150 grams granulated sugar
  • 10 grams matcha powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 115 grams unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 pieces large eggs
  • 120 milliliters milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch pinch of salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium-sized bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, matcha powder, baking powder, and salt. Set this dry mixture aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together using a hand or stand mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 4

Add the eggs one at a time to the butter-sugar mixture, beating well after each addition. Then, mix in the vanilla extract.

Step 5

Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture in three batches, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry mixture. Mix until just combined—do not overmix.

Step 6

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the surface with a spatula.

Step 7

Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Step 8

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 9

Once cooled, the cake can be served as is or dusted lightly with powdered sugar or extra matcha powder for an elegant finishing touch. Enjoy!
