Ingredients

  • 2.5 oz Gin (or Vodka)
  • 0.5 oz Dry Vermouth
  • 1 cup Ice Cubes
  • 1 piece Lemon Twist or Green Olive

Directions

Step 1

Chill a martini glass by filling it with ice water and setting it aside while you prepare the drink.

Step 2

Fill a mixing glass or shaker with 1 cup of ice cubes.

Step 3

Add 2.5 oz of gin (or vodka) to the mixing glass.

Step 4

Pour 0.5 oz of dry vermouth into the glass.

Step 5

Stir the mixture with a bar spoon for about 15-20 seconds, or until thoroughly chilled. Alternatively, shake vigorously if you prefer a 'shaken' martini.

Step 6

Empty the ice water from the martini glass and strain the chilled mixture into the glass.

Step 7

Garnish with either a lemon twist (slice a thin peel of lemon and twist it over the martini to release its oils) or a green olive, depending on your preference.

Step 8

Serve immediately and enjoy responsibly.
