Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Unsweetened cocoa powder

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using a hand mixer or stand mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, mixing until fully incorporated.

Step 4

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in batches, mixing on low speed until a soft dough forms.

Step 5

Divide the dough evenly into two portions. Leave one portion plain and set aside.

Step 6

To the other portion, add the cocoa powder and mix until the chocolate dough is evenly colored.

Step 7

Take small amounts of the plain dough and chocolate dough, and gently twist them together to form a marble effect. Repeat until all the dough is used.

Step 8

Roll the marbled dough into 1-inch balls and place them onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 9

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are slightly soft.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 11

Serve and enjoy your beautiful, marbled cookies!
