Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground pork
  • 2 tbsp Maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 4 Burger buns
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 4 Lettuce leaves
  • 4 Tomato slices
  • 4 Cheddar cheese slices (optional)
  • 2 tbsp Mustard (for serving)
  • 2 tbsp Mayonnaise (for serving, optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands or a spoon until just combined. Do not overmix.

Step 2

Divide the pork mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4-inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Step 3

Heat a grill or stovetop skillet over medium heat. Lightly oil the grill grates or skillet to prevent sticking.

Step 4

Place the pork patties onto the grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) and the patties are fully cooked through.

Step 5

While the patties cook, slice the burger buns in half and spread butter on each cut side. Toast the buns on the grill or in a separate skillet until golden brown.

Step 6

To assemble the burgers, spread a thin layer of mustard (and mayonnaise, if using) on the bottom half of each bun. Add a lettuce leaf, a slice of tomato, a cooked pork patty, and a slice of cheddar cheese (if using). Top with the other half of the bun.

Step 7

Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes like fries, coleslaw, or a fresh salad. Enjoy!
