Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Puff pastry sheets (thawed if frozen)
  • 120 grams Cream cheese (softened)
  • 60 ml Maple syrup (pure)
  • 30 grams Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 1 piece Egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • 80 grams Powdered sugar
  • 30 ml Heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Maple syrup (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and cornstarch. Mix until smooth and well combined. This will be your filling.

Step 3

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets slightly to smooth the edges. Cut each sheet into 4 even squares, resulting in 8 squares total.

Step 4

Place a heaping tablespoon of the filling in the center of each puff pastry square.

Step 5

Fold each square diagonally to form a triangle, enclosing the filling. Press the edges together, then crimp with a fork to seal.

Step 6

Place the turnovers onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each. Brush the tops with the beaten egg to encourage a golden-brown finish during baking.

Step 7

Bake the turnovers in the preheated oven for 18–20 minutes, or until puffed and golden. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly on a wire rack.

Step 8

While the turnovers cool, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, heavy cream, and 2 tablespoons of maple syrup until smooth.

Step 9

Drizzle the maple glaze over the cooled turnovers. Let the glaze set for a few minutes before serving.

Step 10

Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy your Maple Glazed Turnovers!
