Ingredients

  • 2 pieces (each about 8oz) ham steaks
  • 0.25 cups maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 0.25 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, and black pepper until well combined. Set aside.

Step 2

Heat 1 teaspoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the ham steaks to the skillet and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and lightly caramelized. Remove the ham steaks from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the unsalted butter to the skillet and let it melt.

Step 5

Pour the maple syrup glaze mixture into the skillet, stirring constantly until it begins to bubble and thicken slightly, about 2 minutes.

Step 6

Return the ham steaks to the skillet and spoon the glaze over them. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, turning the ham steaks occasionally to ensure they are evenly coated in the glaze.

Step 7

Remove the ham steaks from the skillet and transfer them to a serving plate. Drizzle any remaining glaze over the top.

Step 8

Serve warm with your choice of side dishes such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh green salad.
