Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
  • 0.25 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.5 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon Milk (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and granulated sugar.

Step 3

Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

In a small bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and the egg until combined.

Step 5

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently mix with a spatula until a rough dough forms. Avoid overmixing.

Step 6

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times to bring it together. Shape the dough into a 1-inch thick circle, about 7 inches in diameter.

Step 7

Use a sharp knife or bench scraper to cut the circle into 8 equal wedges. Place the wedges on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 14-16 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown and set. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly on the baking sheet.

Step 9

While the scones are cooling, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth and drizzleable.

Step 10

Drizzle the glaze over the slightly warm scones. Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes before serving.

Step 11

Enjoy your homemade Maple Cinnamon Scones with a hot cup of coffee or tea!
