Ingredients

  • 12 pounds whole turkey
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.25 cups pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary

  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 apples, quartered
  • 1 yellow onion, quartered
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 4 garlic cloves, smashed
  • 2 cups chicken or turkey broth

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Remove the turkey from the packaging, discard giblets or neck if not using for another recipe, and pat it dry with paper towels.

Place the turkey on a roasting rack inside a large roasting pan. Tuck the wing tips under the turkey to prevent them from burning.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, maple syrup, olive oil, rosemary, thyme, sage, salt, and pepper until well combined.
