Ingredients

  • 0.75 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup light brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and stir until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, and the melted chocolate mixture until fully combined.

Step 4

Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 5

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, being careful not to overmix.

Step 6

If using, gently fold in the chopped walnuts.

Step 7

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Step 8

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

Step 9

Let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing into 12 squares.

Step 10

Serve and enjoy the magic!
