Ingredients

  • 1 lb jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 whole lemon, juiced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp ground black pepper
  • 0.25 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the jumbo shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Set them aside.

Step 2

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the shrimp to the skillet and season with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of ground black pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set them aside on a plate.

Step 4

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to low and add 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Allow the butter to melt, stirring gently with a wooden spoon.

Step 5

Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for 30-60 seconds, until fragrant but not browned.

Step 6

Stir in 3 tablespoons of finely chopped chives, the juice of 1 lemon, and 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well to combine and create the chive butter sauce.

Step 7

Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss them gently in the chive butter sauce. Cook for 1-2 minutes, just until the shrimp are warmed through.

Step 8

Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the shrimp to a serving plate. Drizzle any remaining chive butter sauce from the skillet over the shrimp.

Step 9

Serve immediately, garnished with additional fresh chives if desired. Pair with crusty bread, rice, or pasta for a complete meal.
