Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs Egg whites
  • 0.75 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Jello powder (any flavor)
  • 0.25 teaspoon Cream of tartar
  • 0.5 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2

Using a stand mixer or hand mixer, beat the egg whites in a clean, dry bowl on medium speed until foamy.

Step 3

Add the cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.

Step 4

Gradually add the granulated sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while continuing to beat on medium-high speed. Ensure each addition is dissolved before adding the next.

Step 5

Once all the sugar is added, beat the meringue mixture until stiff peaks form. The mixture should be glossy, and the peaks should hold their shape when the beaters are lifted.

Step 6

Add the vanilla extract and jello powder, and gently fold them into the meringue using a spatula. Be careful not to deflate the mixture.

Step 7

Transfer the meringue into a piping bag fitted with a star tip or round tip. Pipe small swirls or dollops onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 1 inch apart.

Step 8

Bake the meringues in the preheated oven for 90 minutes. Do not open the oven during this time, as it can cause the meringues to crack.

Step 9

After 90 minutes, turn off the oven and leave the meringues inside to cool completely (at least an hour). This helps them dry out and prevents cracks.

Step 10

Once the meringues are completely cool, remove them from the baking sheets and store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
