Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Fresh jalapeños
  • 1 cup Cherry tomatoes
  • 0.5 medium White onion
  • 2 pieces Garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame seeds
  • 0.25 cup Cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons Lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground cumin

Directions

Step 1

Preheat a dry skillet over medium heat. Add the sesame seeds and toast for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until they are golden and aromatic. Set aside to cool.

Step 2

In the same skillet, add the jalapeños, garlic cloves (with peel on), and the half onion. Roast for about 5 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are charred on the outside and softened. Remove from heat and let them cool slightly.

Step 3

Peel the garlic cloves and roughly chop the roasted onion and jalapeños, removing the seeds from the jalapeños if you prefer a milder salsa.

Step 4

In a food processor or blender, combine the roasted jalapeños, garlic, onion, cherry tomatoes, toasted sesame seeds, cilantro, lime juice, olive oil, salt, and ground cumin.

Step 5

Pulse the mixture a few times until the salsa reaches your desired consistency, whether chunky or smooth.

Step 6

Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, adding more salt or lime juice to balance the flavors.

Step 7

Transfer to a serving bowl and let the salsa sit for at least 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

Step 8

Serve with tortilla chips, tacos, or use as a topping for grilled meats or vegetables.
