Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 0.5 lb Italian sausage
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 4 slices Mozzarella cheese slices
  • 0.5 cup Marinara sauce
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 4 Burger buns
  • 4 leaves Fresh basil leaves

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian sausage, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, egg, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a burger patty about 1 inch thick.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.

Step 4

Place the patties in the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked through (internal temperature of 160°F).

Step 5

Reduce the heat to low and spoon about 2 tablespoons of marinara sauce onto each patty. Place a slice of mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce.

Step 6

Cover the skillet with a lid and let the cheese melt, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 7

Toast the burger buns in a separate pan or under a broiler, if desired.

Step 8

Assemble the burgers by placing each patty on a bun bottom, topping with a fresh basil leaf, and then adding the bun top.

Step 9

Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes, such as a green salad or garlic fries.
