Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1.25 cups Milk
  • 0.5 cups Water
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons Taco seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt (for meat seasoning)
  • 0.25 cups Water (for taco mixture)
  • 2 cups Shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup Diced tomatoes
  • 1.5 cups Shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cups Diced onions
  • 1 cup Sour cream
  • 0.25 cups Chopped cilantro (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

Step 2

Gradually stir in the milk and water, mixing until a soft dough forms. Add a little extra water if necessary.

Step 3

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 2 minutes until smooth. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rest for 15 minutes.

Step 4

Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or frying pan to 350°F (175°C).

Step 5

Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball. Flatten each ball into a disk about 1/4 inch thick.

Step 6

Carefully place one piece of dough into the hot oil and fry for 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Repeat with remaining dough.

Step 7

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes.

Step 8

Add taco seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 cup water to the cooked ground beef. Stir well and simmer for 2 minutes until thickened.

Step 9

To assemble the Indian Tacos, place a piece of fry bread on a plate. Top with a generous serving of the seasoned ground beef.

Step 10

Add toppings like shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded Cheddar cheese, diced onions, sour cream, and chopped cilantro, as desired.

Step 11

Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Indian Tacos!
