Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups Water
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons Black tea leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh ginger (finely grated)
  • 3 Green cardamom pods
  • 2 Clove
  • 1 inch Cinnamon stick

Directions

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, pour 1.5 cups of water and bring to a boil over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the finely grated ginger, cardamom pods, clove, and cinnamon stick to the boiling water. Allow it to simmer for about 2 minutes to let the spices infuse the water.

Step 3

Reduce the heat to low and add the black tea leaves. Simmer for another 1-2 minutes or until the tea leaves have imparted a dark color and rich aroma to the brew.

Step 4

Stir in the sugar and then pour in the whole milk.

Step 5

Increase the heat to medium and bring the mixture back to a boil, allowing it to simmer for about 3-4 minutes. Keep a close watch to prevent overflowing. Stir occasionally to ensure the sugar dissolves completely and the flavors amalgamate.

Step 6

Once the tea reaches a desirable color and aroma, turn off the heat.

Step 7

Strain the tea into cups using a fine mesh strainer to remove the spices and tea leaves.

Step 8

Serve hot, and enjoy the comforting flavors of this authentic Indian milk tea.
