Ingredients

  • 1 medium-sized Cantaloupe (melon)
  • 1 medium-sized Watermelon
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon or lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon Chaat masala
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black salt (kala namak)
  • 1 teaspoon Honey (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Mint leaves
  • 1 small Cucumber
  • 2 tablespoons Roasted peanuts or cashews (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Cut the cantaloupe and watermelon in half and remove the seeds. Use a melon baller or a spoon to scoop out bite-sized balls of the melon flesh. Alternatively, dice the melons into small cubes. Place them in a large mixing bowl.

Step 2

Peel the cucumber and slice it into thin rounds or small cubes. Add the cucumber pieces to the bowl with the melon.

Step 3

Drizzle the lemon or lime juice over the melon and cucumber mixture to bring a tangy freshness to the salad.

Step 4

Sprinkle the chaat masala, red chili powder, and black salt evenly over the salad. Gently toss everything to coat the ingredients with the spices.

Step 5

If desired, drizzle honey over the salad for a touch of sweetness and mix lightly.

Step 6

Chop the mint leaves finely and sprinkle them over the salad for a burst of freshness.

Step 7

If you're using roasted peanuts or cashews, coarsely chop them and sprinkle on top just before serving for added crunch.

Step 8

Refrigerate the salad for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together and serve chilled.
