Ingredients

  • 500 g Cremini mushrooms
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 5 units Garlic cloves, minced
  • 120 ml Dry white wine
  • 60 ml Heavy cream
  • 2 tsp Fresh thyme leaves
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Clean the mushrooms by wiping them with a damp cloth or paper towel to remove any dirt. Slice them into thick slices or halve them if they are small.

Step 2

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of butter and the olive oil over medium heat until melted and shimmering.

Step 3

Add the mushrooms to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they release their moisture and start to brown.

Step 4

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent burning.

Step 5

Pour in the white wine and stir, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Let the wine simmer for 2-3 minutes until most of it evaporates to concentrate the flavors.

Step 6

Reduce the heat to low and add the remaining butter, heavy cream, thyme leaves, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine and let the sauce simmer gently for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.

Step 7

Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the lemon juice and chopped parsley. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

Step 8

Transfer the mushrooms to a serving dish and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if using. Serve immediately as a side dish or with crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
