Ingredients

  • 1 box Boxed cake mix (any flavor)
  • 3 pieces Large eggs
  • 0.5 cup Vegetable oil
  • 1 cup Water
  • 24 pieces Flat-bottomed ice cream cones
  • 2 cups Buttercream frosting (store-bought or homemade)
  • 0 as needed Food coloring (optional)
  • 0 as needed Sprinkles or other decorations

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with aluminum foil to stabilize the ice cream cones.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, prepare the cake batter according to the instructions on the boxed cake mix, combining the mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water.

Step 3

Whisk or mix the batter with an electric mixer until smooth and free of lumps.

Step 4

Place one ice cream cone in each muffin tin cavity and carefully fill each cone about 2/3 full with cake batter. Do not overfill to avoid overflow during baking.

Step 5

Gently transfer the muffin tin to the preheated oven and bake for 18-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cake comes out clean.

Step 6

Remove the cones from the oven and allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.

Step 7

If desired, divide the buttercream frosting into separate bowls and tint them with food coloring to create different colors.

Step 8

Using a piping bag fitted with a star or round tip, frost each cone to resemble an ice cream swirl.

Step 9

Top the frosted cones with sprinkles or your favorite decorations for added flair.

Step 10

Serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
