Ingredients

  • 300 grams Spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 3 pieces Garlic cloves
  • 400 grams Crushed tomatoes (canned)
  • 1 teaspoon Dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 50 grams Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1 liter Water

Directions

Step 1

Fill a large pot with 1 liter of water and bring it to a boil. Add a generous pinch of salt to the water.

Step 2

Once the water is boiling, add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions (typically 8-10 minutes) until al dente. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Step 3

While the pasta cooks, heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.

Step 4

Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves. Add them to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn them.

Step 5

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, red chili flakes, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and let the sauce simmer for 5-7 minutes to develop the flavors.

Step 6

Once the spaghetti is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta.

Step 7

Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the tomato sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly, adding a splash of the reserved pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.

Step 8

Remove the skillet from the heat and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the spaghetti. Toss again to combine.

Step 9

Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley and additional Parmesan cheese, if desired.
