Ingredients

  • 4 pieces chicken breasts
  • 8 slices smoked streaky bacon
  • 300 ml barbecue sauce
  • 150 grams cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F) or 180°C (356°F) for fan-assisted ovens.

Step 2

Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt and black pepper.

Step 3

Heat the olive oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Sear the chicken breasts for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Step 4

Lay 2 slices of smoked streaky bacon side by side, slightly overlapping. Place one chicken breast on top and wrap the bacon around it securely. Repeat for the remaining chicken breasts.

Step 5

Place the bacon-wrapped chicken breasts in an ovenproof dish, seam-side down.

Step 6

Pour the barbecue sauce evenly over the chicken breasts, ensuring they are well coated.

Step 7

Grate the cheddar cheese and sprinkle it generously over the top of the chicken.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the bacon is crispy. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 75°C (165°F).

Step 9

If desired, garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Step 10

Serve hot with your choice of sides, such as mashed potatoes, chips, or steamed vegetables.
