Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 piece Large egg
  • 3 tablespoons Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Salted butter (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons Honey (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk and butter. Heat until the butter is melted and the mixture is warm (about 110°F / 43°C).

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk the flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt together.

Step 3

Add the warm milk mixture, egg, and 3 tablespoons of honey to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.

Step 4

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add a small amount of flour if the dough is sticky.

Step 5

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Step 6

Punch the dough down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope about 8 inches long.

Step 7

Form bunny shapes by coiling one end of the rope into a spiral for the 'body’ and looping the other end up for the 'head.' Pinch ears at the top of the loop.

Step 8

Place the shaped dough bunnies onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise for another 30 minutes.

Step 9

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bunnies for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 10

While the bunnies bake, prepare the honey butter glaze by melting the salted butter and stirring in the honey.

Step 11

Once the bunnies are out of the oven, brush them generously with the honey butter glaze.

Step 12

Serve warm for the best flavor. These can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
