Ingredients

  • 4 pieces chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 0.5 teaspoons red chili flakes
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves (minced)
  • 0.5 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 lime lime (juiced)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro (chopped)

Directions

Step 1

Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and season them on both sides with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder.

Step 2

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Once the oil is hot, place the chicken thighs skin-side down in the skillet.

Step 3

Cook the chicken for 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter to the skillet. Once melted, add the red chili flakes and minced garlic. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Step 5

Pour in the chicken broth, scraping the bottom of the skillet to deglaze and release any browned bits. Stir in the honey and lime juice.

Step 6

Return the chicken thighs to the skillet, skin-side up. Spoon some of the sauce over the chicken.

Step 7

Cover the skillet with a lid or foil and let the chicken simmer on medium heat for 12-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).

Step 8

Uncover the skillet and let the sauce thicken slightly for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Step 9

Remove from heat and garnish with freshly chopped cilantro. Serve hot with rice, mashed potatoes, or sautéed vegetables, and enjoy!
