Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2.25 teaspoons Instant yeast
  • 1 cup Warm milk
  • 6 tablespoons Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil (for greasing)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter, for brushing (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, salt, and instant yeast.

Step 2

Warm the milk to about 110°F (warm to the touch but not hot). Add the warm milk, melted butter, and egg to the dry ingredients. Stir until a sticky dough begins to come together.

Step 3

Gradually add the remaining 1 cup of flour, a little at a time, until the dough is soft and slightly sticky but pulls away from the sides of the bowl.

Step 4

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, knead using a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook for 5-6 minutes on medium speed.

Step 5

Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat all sides. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 to 1.5 hours or until doubled in size.

Step 6

Punch down the dough to release any air bubbles. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a smooth ball.

Step 7

Arrange the dough balls in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish or on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving some space between each roll for expansion.

Step 8

Cover the shaped rolls with a clean towel and let them rise again for about 30-40 minutes, until puffy and nearly doubled in size.

Step 9

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Once the rolls have risen, bake them in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

Step 10

If desired, brush the hot rolls with additional melted butter after removing them from the oven for an extra buttery finish.

Step 11

Serve warm and enjoy!
