Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Chicken wings
  • 3 whole Habanero peppers
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 2 tbsp Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Lime juice
  • 1 tsp Ground cumin
  • 1 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp Chopped cilantro (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and set a wire rack on top to allow airflow around the wings while cooking.

Step 2

In a large bowl, pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. Toss them with 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika, and 0.5 teaspoons of black pepper until evenly coated.

Step 3

Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared rack and bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.

Step 4

While the wings bake, prepare the habanero sauce. In a blender or food processor, combine the habanero peppers (seeds removed for less heat, if preferred), garlic cloves, unsalted butter, honey, apple cider vinegar, lime juice, ground cumin, and a pinch of salt. Blend until smooth.

Step 5

Pour the habanero sauce into a small saucepan. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes, until the sauce is slightly thickened and fragrant.

Step 6

Once the wings are cooked, transfer them to a large mixing bowl. Pour the warm habanero sauce over the wings and toss until they are thoroughly coated.

Step 7

Serve the wings hot, garnished with chopped cilantro if desired. Pair with ranch or blue cheese dressing to help cool down the heat!
