Ingredients

  • 400 grams Paneer (cottage cheese)
  • 4 tablespoons Cornflour
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper powder
  • 4 tablespoons Water
  • 300 ml Oil (for frying)
  • 2 tablespoons Garlic (finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger (finely chopped)
  • 3 Green chilies (slit lengthwise)
  • 1 large Onion (cut into cubes)
  • 1 medium Capsicum (green bell pepper, cut into cubes)
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Red chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Vinegar
  • 0.5 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Spring onions (chopped, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Cut the paneer into bite-sized cubes and set them aside.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, combine cornflour, all-purpose flour, salt, black pepper, and water to form a thick batter.

Step 3

Dip the paneer cubes into the batter, ensuring they are well-coated.

Step 4

Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the coated paneer cubes in batches until golden and crispy. Remove and set them aside on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

Step 5

In a wide pan or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat.

Step 6

Add the chopped garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Step 7

Add the cubed onion and capsicum. Stir-fry on high heat for 3-4 minutes, keeping the vegetables slightly crunchy.

Step 8

Reduce the heat to medium and add soy sauce, red chili sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar, and sugar. Stir well to combine the sauces.

Step 9

Toss the fried paneer cubes in the sauce mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated.

Step 10

Cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the paneer to soak up the flavors.

Step 11

Garnish with chopped spring onions and serve hot as an appetizer or a side dish with fried rice or noodles.
