Ingredients

  • 1 cup Chicken or vegetable stock
  • 3 tablespoons Rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1.5 tablespoons Chili garlic sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dark soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1.5 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 1 teaspoon Toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh ginger, finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic, finely minced

Directions

Step 1

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the chicken or vegetable stock, rice vinegar, soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, dark soy sauce, and sugar until fully combined.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry, and set it aside.

Step 3

Heat a small saucepan over medium heat and add the sesame oil.

Step 4

Once the oil is hot, sauté the minced ginger and garlic for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant.

Step 5

Slowly pour in the prepared liquid mixture from step 1 into the saucepan, stirring constantly.

Step 6

Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for 2–3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Step 7

Gradually add the cornstarch slurry while stirring to thicken the sauce. Cook for another 1–2 minutes until the sauce reaches your desired consistency.

Step 8

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the sauce cool slightly. Serve warm or store in an airtight container for later use.
