Ingredients

  • 4 pieces salmon fillets
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons mirin (Japanese sweet rice wine)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • 2 green onions, chopped (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, mirin, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to prepare the teriyaki sauce.

Step 2

In another small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Set aside.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add cooking oil.

Step 4

Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel and place them in the skillet, skin-side down (if applicable). Cook for 3-4 minutes, then carefully flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

Step 5

Remove the salmon from the skillet and set aside on a plate.

Step 6

Lower the heat to medium-low and pour the teriyaki sauce into the skillet. Allow it to simmer gently for 2-3 minutes.

Step 7

Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.

Step 8

Return the salmon to the skillet and spoon the teriyaki sauce over the fillets to glaze them.

Step 9

Remove from heat and transfer the salmon to serving plates. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.

Step 10

Serve immediately and enjoy!
