Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 0.25 cup Soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon Water
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds
  • 2 stalks Scallions, chopped

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the teriyaki sauce.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until dissolved to form a slurry. Set aside.

Step 3

Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper on both sides.

Step 4

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil. Once hot, place the chicken thighs in the skillet and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet, pour in the teriyaki sauce mixture. Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat, allowing it to reduce slightly, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 6

Stir the cornstarch slurry into the simmering sauce and cook for another 2-3 minutes, whisking constantly, until the sauce thickens.

Step 7

Return the seared chicken thighs to the skillet, turning them to coat evenly in the thickened teriyaki sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, spooning the sauce over the chicken.

Step 8

Garnish the chicken with sesame seeds and chopped scallions.

Step 9

Serve the honey teriyaki chicken over steamed rice or alongside sautéed vegetables for a complete meal.
