Ingredients

  • 3 cups fresh fruit (e.g., strawberries, apples, or peaches)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 140°F (or the lowest setting possible). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Step 2

Wash and prepare the fruit by removing any seeds, stems, or pits, and cut it into small pieces.

Step 3

Place the fruit in a medium saucepan with 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the fruit is soft, about 10-15 minutes.

Step 4

Remove the saucepan from heat. Puree the fruit mixture using an immersion blender or transfer to a blender to process until smooth. Be cautious if the mixture is hot.

Step 5

Add 2 tablespoons of honey or sugar and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to the fruit puree. Blend until well mixed.

Step 6

Pour the fruit mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spreading it evenly to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Step 7

Place the baking sheet in the oven. Let the fruit leather dry for 6-8 hours. The fruit leather is done when not sticky to the touch and peels away easily from the parchment or mat.

Step 8

Once cooled, use a kitchen knife or scissors to cut the fruit leather into strips or as desired. Roll them up in parchment paper to store.

Step 9

Store the fruit leather in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks or refrigerate for longer storage.
