Ingredients

  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cups Warm water (110°F/45°C)
  • 0.33 cups Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups Whole milk
  • 0.33 cups Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 Large egg
  • 3.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 cups Unsalted butter, softened (for brushing)

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, heat milk over low heat until just warm (not boiling). Remove from heat.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, melted butter, egg, and warm milk. Mix until smooth.

Step 4

Stir in the yeast mixture and mix well.

Step 5

Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Step 6

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Step 7

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

Step 8

Punch down the dough and transfer it to a lightly floured surface.

Step 9

Roll the dough into a 12-inch circle and use a pizza cutter or knife to divide it into 16 equal triangles.

Step 10

Starting from the wide end, roll each triangle tightly toward the tip to form a crescent shape.

Step 11

Place the rolls onto a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet, with the tip of the triangle tucked under. Leave space between each roll for rising.

Step 12

Cover the rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise for 30 minutes, or until puffy.

Step 13

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 14

Brush the tops of the rolls with softened butter.

Step 15

Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and fully cooked.

Step 16

Remove from the oven and brush with additional butter, if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
